The Rt. Honourable Lord Swraj Paul of Marylebone, PC - an Indian born, British businessman and Philanthropist is the Chairman of Caparo Group Limited. He has been conferred with the prestigious civilian award Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 1983.

Lord Paul was born in Jalandhar (India) on the 18th February 1931, completed his high school education at Jalandhar, India and Bachelors in Science from Punjab University in 1949. Thereafter, he went to the USA to pursue his Bachelors & Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.

He laid the foundation of the Caparo Group in the United Kingdom in 1968. The Caparo Group with headquarters in London, UK: has operations in the UK, India, USA, Canada and UAE.

He sits in the House of Lords as a Cross-Bencher with the title Baron Paul of Marylebone, in the City of Westminster. He was sworn as a Privy Councilor in October 2009.

Lord Paul founded the Indo-British Association in 1975 to promote better understanding between India and Britain and served as its Chairman.

Lord Paul is the Chairman of the Ambika Paul Foundation, a Charitable Trust in the memory of his daughter; and he has helped build the Ambika Paul Memorial Gardens & Ambika Paul Children’s Zoo at the London Zoo.

The Honourable Angad Paul, was a British businessman, Chairman of Caparo India and CEO of Caparo Group. He attended Harrow School and received a BS in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.

He was always fascinated by the history and culture of India, and the opportunities in the country that were available for enhancing India-UK cooperation. Angad was responsible for the expansion of Caparo’s businesses in India which is today a diversified conglomerate operating in the automotive, power and hospitality sectors, amongst others.

The Honourable Dr. Akash Paul joined Caparo in June 1981.

He attended Harrow School, London, have BSc Chemical Engineering & Economics from Carnegie Mellon University (Double Major with Minor in Biomedical Engineering and Specialization in Applied Reaction Kinetics) and MBA (with specialization in Corporate Finance & Marketing) from MIT Sloan at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA and cross-registered at Harvard Business School for Case Study Courses, particularly in Family Businesses.

In 1976, he started on the shop floor and in the sales departments of Natural Gas Tubes Ltd, Tredegar gaining valuable insight into the production, sales and management of the steel tube manufacturing businesses. From 1981 to 1991, he also worked in his Apeejay India Family business at The Park Hotel, Flury’s & Magnolia Restaurants, Apeejay Shipping, Assam Frontier & Apeejay Tea, Kolkata and Martin & Harris and Walter Bushnell Pharmaceuticals, Mumbai.

In 1983, he was appointed as a director of Caparo Group and held Chairmanship of Caparo Merchant Bar, Caparo Steel & Tube Products, Armstrong Fastenings & Helicoil, Forest Fasteners, Barton Conduits & Fittings, Barton Aluminium, Caparo Nupac PVC and directorships in all other subsidiaries.

In 1992, he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Caparo Group. During this time, he furthered Caparo's growth strategy in UK, Europe, USA and India, as well as expanding capacity and increasing profitability of the companies in the United Kingdom and was President, Caparo Automotive Espana (CREMSA and ENSA), Spain and Executive Board, Caparo Bull Moose Tube, USA and Chairman, Caparo Steel Company, Pennsylvania, USA.

He has been an Independent Director of Tech Mahindra and a former-member of the Dean's Advisory Board at the MIT Sloan School of Management and the College of Engineering Dean's Advisory Council at Carnegie Mellon University. His Professional Memberships were of AIChE-USA, BIPSA UK Steel Association and first Indian Head of the Eurofer Merchant Bar Steel Committee.

His hobbies are Dictionary Diving and Thesaurus Trawling. Interests are Linguistics, Literature, Feng Shui, Vedanta and Universalism. His likes are reading multi-religious doctrines like Bhagavad Gita, The Holy Bible, Quran etc., Latin Music and Dancing. He is fluent in Spanish, Hindi, semi-fluent in French, learning Catalán, see Languages Section for others!

Arush Paul Vice Chairman and CEO, Caparo India Operations

Arush Paul is the Vice-Chairman of Caparo India.

After joining Caparo in 2009, he gained significant experience in operations and marketing across various industrial engineering businesses in the UK.

In 2012, he played a pivotal role in not only the expansion of the group’s then UK steel tube distribution arm, but also, initiated Caparo's entry into e-commerce.

Since 2015, for nearly a decade now, he has been concentrating on Caparo India with an active involvement in driving business development, expanding capacity, fostering profitability across all our operations and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders.

Driven by a deep commitment to sustainability, he is steering Caparo India towards becoming an active participator in business and economic circularity.

He sees India as a potential pioneer in innovation, modern technology and frugally efficient production methods, which can and will significantly accelerate the pace of development of the nation.

He was educated at both Highgate School and Harrow School in London. He is a BA graduate in Politics and American Studies from the University of Nottingham in 2009.

The Hon. Mrs. Nisha Paul is Chairperson, Ayatti by Caparo (CIL).

Under her leadership, the organisation has seen renewed vision and remarkable growth with her extensive experience and influential network in the film and creative industries bringing a distinct edge to the brand.

Mrs. Paul has been a key influencer and is instrumental in positioning Ayatti by Caparo as a premier destination for film/photo shoots, conferences, leisure, marriages and educational events.

She is a well-recognised freelance writer known for her insightful features on iconic global personalities and places. She was a writer for Verve magazine, where her thoughtful pieces reflects her passion for culture and storytelling.

She is also a seasoned journalist and member of the Indian Journalist Association (IJA), London and has served as Trustee and Chair of the Gala Committee for Magic Bus, UK and the VSO Charity with Lady Amanda Cairns and the UK Foreign Office, as well as contributing to other philanthropic initiatives.

Through her diverse contributions across various spectrums, The Hon. Mrs. Nisha Paul continues to inspire and lead with creativity, vision and purpose.
