The Honourable Akash Paul

The Honourable Akash Paul joined Caparo in June 1982
He attended, Harrow School; London, has BSc Chemical Engineering & Economics from Carnegie Mellon University (Double Major with Minor in Biomedical Engineering and Specialization in Applied Reaction Kinetics) and MBA (with specialization in Corporate Finance & Marketing) from MIT Sloan at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.
In his initial years, he started on the shop floor and in the sales departments of Natural Gas Tubes Ltd, Tredegar gaining valuable insight into the production, sales and management of the steel tube manufacturing businesses. In Caparo, he held Chairmanship of Caparo Merchant Bar, Caparo Steel Products divisions and Barton Engineering Ltd and directorships in all other subsidiaries before becoming a director of Caparo in 1986.
Akash was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Caparo Group in 1992. During this time, he furthered Caparo's growth strategy in Europe and India, as well as expanding capacity and increasing profitability of the companies in the United Kingdom and was President of the automotive group, Caparo Espana (CREMSA and ENSA), in Spain. He remained Chairman of Caparo Merchant Bar plc, Caparo Wire Ltd, the Caparo Steel Stockholding, Caparo Aluminium and Armstrong Fastenings.
Akash is Chairman of Caparo India Companies and Director of Caparo Group Limited.
He is a past Independent Director of Tech Mahindra and a former-member of the Dean's Advisory Board at the MIT Sloan School of Management and the College of Engineering Dean's Advisory Council at Carnegie Mellon University. He has held Professional Memberships – Past member of AIChE, USA, BIPSA & UK Steel Association, UK and first Indian Head for the Eurofer Merchant Bar Steel Committee.
He is fluent in Spanish and semi-fluent in French and enjoys reading Vedanta and Latin music and culture.
