What is aluminium casting?

Aluminium casting is a process of creating three-dimensional shapes by pouring molten aluminium into a mould. The mould is typically made from a high-temperature-resistant material, such as steel or sand, and is designed to create a specific shape. Once the molten aluminium is poured into the mould, it is allowed to cool and solidify, creating a solid metal component.

The division is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to produce high-quality castings with tight tolerances. Caparo's aluminium casting division offers a range of casting techniques, including sand casting, gravity casting, and high-pressure die casting. Their castings can be found in a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, and industrial applications. With their expertise in aluminium casting, Caparo delivers high-quality products that meet the demands of their customers

Gravity die casting is a metal casting process that involves pouring molten metal into a reusable steel die or mould under the influence of gravity. The molten metal is forced into the die cavity by the force of gravity, without the use of external pressure, resulting in a high-quality, dense and uniform cast part. This casting process is commonly used for producing intricate parts with high accuracies, such as engine blocks, gearbox housings, and other automotive components. The process can also be used to produce parts with a smooth surface finish and minimal porosity.

This process is suitable for producing small to medium-sized parts with high dimensional accuracy and a smooth surface finish. Some of the commonly produced products using gravity die casting include automotive parts such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, and transmission cases. Other examples include industrial parts like pumps, valves, and machine tool components. In addition, gravity die casting is also used in the production of consumer goods such as kitchenware, lighting fixtures, and decorative objects.
